  While watching these two informative videos about the Supreme Court, I gained new knowledge about the operations of the highest authority in America. That consists of nine compromising judges sitting in this room and deliberating what could impact someone's life for better or worse. Ongoing, from my understanding, the Supreme Court is the most powerful judicial branch in the world. They have the authority to instruct the president, Congress, and states on what they can or cannot do. According to the "Supreme Court" video, the Supreme Court receives over 100 new cases per week, which amounts to about 7000 annually, yet only 100 cases are accepted for full consideration each year. This fact is astonishing as it indicates that the Supreme Court makes sure they are choosing wisely and carefully on which cases they spend time on, as this is only one to two percent of the total cases. The video also mentioned that it takes about four weeks to complete the first draft of the court's opinion with revisions and adjustments potentially extending over months and even years. 

    The most important takeaway point about the Supreme Court is, that shaking hands is the first thing the judges do when they meet, or go into a conference. Why do I believe this is the most important takeaway? The handshake represents more than just a routine gesture; It shows a level of character identity, commitment to civility, respect towards their colleagues, and professionalism; especially in their field of work. At times, this job may become tense or disrespectful, as they are forming conclusions on opinionated situations. In their roles, Supreme Court justices often confront difficult legal issues and cases that touch on deeply held beliefs and contentious social, political, and constitutional matters. The nature of their work can lead to heated discussions and sharp disagreements. However, by beginning each meeting with a handshake, the justices reaffirm their dedication to respectful discourse, maintaining a level of character that is essential for their collaborative decision-making process. As stated in the video "They feel if you touch someone's hand you're less likely to hold a grudge."
